A progress note on the software side of Merovex Press.
Verkilo — our writing app for novelists working across a series — is in private alpha. It isn’t public yet, and that’s on purpose: I’ve been building it and writing in it at the same time. I wrote my first novel in Verkilo while the app was still taking shape, which turns out to be the best bug report there is. Whenever a feature got in the way of actually finishing a chapter, I felt it that same day, and changed it.
As of after Thanksgiving, the code is stable — the milestone I’d been waiting for before pushing further. So the plan from here is simple: I’m going to write my second and third novels in Verkilo before we open it up. Three books through the same tool, each one shaking out what the last one missed.
When those are done and the app has earned it, Verkilo goes to a public release — planned for Summer 2026. Until then it stays in private alpha, quietly getting better with every chapter. That’s exactly the way we said we’d work: tools for authors, proven on real books.
